Hair transplant progress

Hair transplantation involves harvesting hair follicles from the donor area, and transferring them to the recipient areas that suffer from thin hair or baldness. These follicular units may vary in size and shape depending on the technique used.

In general, it may take more than one session to reach satisfactory cosmetic result, and the sessions may be far apart, depending upon the doctor's judgement.

The number of follicular units implanted in one session may reach 700 unit or more depending on the technique to be used.

Just before the operation, the donor area is prepared by cutting the hair shortly to facilitate the process of reaching and extracting hair follicles, sometimes the hair follicular unit is harvested using a pointed tool to extract a very small follicular unit out of the scalp, each of which holds a small number of hair follicles to be implanted in the same session into recipient areas.

Your surgeon carefully extracts and implants hair follicles without damaging the donor areas, taking into consideration the direction of hair so it can grow in natural and consistent angles.

After the transplantation session ends, the scalp is cleaned and covered with sterile gauze, and you may have to wear headband for a day or two.

Is hair transplant painful ?

In the hair transplant procedure, whatever the used technique was, local anesthesia is used along with a light sedative sometimes, you will not feel the slightest pain throughout the operation, but you may feel some tension and/or pressure on the skin. 

After hair transplant surgery

What you feel after the operation depends on the technique, and perhaps at first you may feel some slight pain, discomfort or headache and it can be controlled with simple analgesics that our doctor will prescribe to you.

You will be able to remove the dressings after a day or two, and you can wash your head two days after the procedure.

In the event of swelling, cyanosis or drainage from the scalp, you should consult your doctor immediately.

The doctor will see you several times in the first month after the procedure to ensure that small cuts in the donor and the recipient areas are healing well.

After hair transplant shock loss

After several days, you will be able to resume your normal daily routine, you can also go back to your home country.

If you see some transplanted hair falling out during a period of six weeks after the operation, do not be alarmed and make sure that this is a natural and temporary thing, since after this hair falls, new hair will grow after a period of weeks five weeks, the normal growth rate is usually about one centimeter per month.
